September 1, 2026 – Helping Children Thrive Inside and Outside the Classroom

As children grow, their schedules, environments, and needs can change quickly. In this month’s newsletter, we’re looking at why rest and unstructured time matter, how to recognize when a busy schedule may be contributing to stress, and how changes in school safety can affect a child’s emotional well-being. You’ll also find a free guide for parents, information about our BELLS early intervention program, and resources to help your family find the right support when you need it.

Making Room for Rest in Your Child’s Busy Life

Extracurricular activities can give children valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and build confidence, but a schedule that is constantly packed can come at a cost. This blog looks at how over-scheduling may contribute to anxiety, irritability, burnout, sleep difficulties, and pressure around achievement. It also explores why unstructured play and downtime matter, and offers practical ways parents can balance commitment and perseverance with rest, family time, and their child’s emotional well-being.

Is it a phase — or something more?

Parenting a young child comes with a lot of questions. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

Cadenza Center’s licensed child psychologists created a free guide, Phase or Pattern?, to help parents of children ages 2–8 find answers. Inside, you’ll discover which behaviors are developmentally typical, which warrant closer attention, and the three signs that often point to a professional evaluation.

All written in plain language, without pressure or clinical jargon.

Because you deserve a clear answer, not more uncertainty.

When School Safety Measures Affect Student Mental Health

This blog examines the emotional impact of increased security measures, including metal detectors, and offers practical guidance for parents on recognizing signs of stress and supporting children through these changes. Learn how open communication, reassurance, and attention to your child’s emotional well-being can help them feel both safe and supported at school.
